The Devices

Roland Groove Effects EF-303 is a really slick DJ device that works great as a guitar effect. It has a bunch of built in effects (Filter, Ring Mod, Flanger, Phaser, Slicer, plus11 others), and you can set up synchronized sequenced changes for effect parameters. The Groove Effects is synced to MIDI Clock that comes from the Molten Voltage Master Control. The 16 Groove Effects programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes, mapped with the Molten Voltage Osmosis. The Groove Effects is also switched in and out using the Molten Voltage NODE MIDI Switcher.

Eventide PitchFactor is a fun and versatile harmonizer pedal. We use it for dynamic filtering and synth overtones. PitchFactor is synced to MIDI Clock that comes from the Molten Voltage Master Control. PitchFactor is also controlled by the EHX 8-Step Program, which sends syncrhonized control voltages into the PitchFactor's expression input for funky synced filtering effects. The PitchFactor's programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes, mapped with the Molten Voltage Osmosis. PitchFactor has relay true bypass so it doesn't need a MIDI switcher.

EHX 8-Step Program is a creative tool that sends synchronized control voltage patterns into the Eventide PitchFactor's expression input, altering the sounds in time with the beat. 8-Step is synced to MIDI Clock that comes from the Molten Voltage Master Control. The 8-Step's programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes, mapped with the Molten Voltage Osmosis.

MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay modified by Molten Voltage Professional is controlled via Molten Voltage MIDI Delaytion. MIDI Delaytion recalls 128 Carbon Copy presets and syncs the delay to MIDI Clock. The Carbon Copy is switched in and out using the Molten Voltage NODE MIDI Switcher. We also modify the Malekko Ekko 616 Analog Delay, which also sounds great and is a little brighter and grittier than the Carbon Copy.

Molten Voltage Big Muff MIDI is a classic EHX Big Muff Pi fuzz pedal that we modify for MIDI control. It stores and recalls the knob positions and bypass status. Big Muff MIDI's 128 programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes from the Molten Voltage Master Control. Big Muff MIDI has a true-bypass relay inside, so it doesn't need a MIDI switcher.

MXR Dyna Comp is a great sounding compressor that we put early in the chain to give our rig a boost, or to get that "chicken pickin'" Nashville sound. This particular Dyna Comp has a couple Molten Voltage Professional enhancements. The Dyna Comp is switched in and out using the Molten Voltage NODE MIDI Switcher.

DigiTech Talker is an awesome vocoder effect. Run your guitar in one channel, and a mic (not shown) in the other, then modulate your guitar with your voice for killer talk box sounds. The Talker is switched in and out using the Molten Voltage NODE MIDI Switcher.

Molten Voltage NODE is a 4-loop relay true-bypass MIDI Switcher that stores and recalls the bypass status of each loop. Two NODEs switch eight of the effects. NODE's 128 programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes from the Molten Voltage Master Control.

Molten Voltage MIDI Delaytion is an analog delay controller for modified MXR Carbon Copy and Malekko Ekko 616 delays. MIDI Delaytion stores and recalls the delay time as well as the LFO rate and depth. It can sync the delay time to MIDI Clock from the Molten Volage Master Control with 3 different tap ratios, or set the delay time independently for fast slapback and chorus sounds. MIDI Delaytion's 128 programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes from the Molten Voltage Master Control.

Molten Voltage SIMI is a modular MIDI Display with 16 bright red alphanumeric LEDs. SIMI displays custom messages when it gets standard MIDI Program Changes from the Molten Voltage Master Control.

Molten Voltage OSMOSIS is a powerful MIDI Mapper and Filter which responds to standard MIDI Program Changes from the Molten Voltage Master Control by sending out up to 5 additional Program Changes as well as 16 Control Change messages, all on separate MIDI Channels. Because they are on separate MIDI channels, OSMOSIS lets us simultaneously recall different program numbers on the Roland Groove Effects, Eventide PitchFactor, EHX 8-Step Program, Strymon TimeLine, and Molten Voltage G-Quencer.

BOSS Phase Shifter PH-3 is a rich sounding phaser that is syncs its sweep to MIDI Clock at one of 9 different ratios using the Molten Voltage CTL-Sync. Control Sync connects to the Phase Shifter's EXP/CTL jack. The Phase Shifter is also switched in and out using the Molten Voltage NODE MIDI Switcher.

Molten Voltage CTL-Sync is a Classic Effect Synchronizer that connects to the CTL or Tap Switch Input Jack of classic effects and switches in sync with MIDI Clock at one of nine (9) musical ratios. Control Sync receives MIDI Clock from the Molten Volage Master Control and syncs the BOSS Phaser Shifter and the BOSS Dynamic Wah. Control Sync's 128 programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes from the Molten Voltage Master Control.

BOSS Metal Zone MT-2 is one of our favorite distortions because of it's thick crushing sound and killer midrange controls. We modified this particular one with a hotter-than-stock input transistor and orange LED. The Metal Zone is switched in and out using the Molten Voltage NODE MIDI Switcher.

Molten Voltage MIDI Splitty is a MIDI Splitter / Repeater that amplifies the MIDI signal, then repeats it to four other MIDI devices. Many devices on Starship Kaom have MIDI Thru jacks which will repeat the signal, but for those that don't, we use MIDI Splitty. It's important to remember that your MIDI signal can be routed in a different order than your audio signal.

BOSS Dynamic Wah AW-3 is a compact auto-wah that syncs its sweep to MIDI Clock at one of 9 different ratios using the Molten Voltage CTL-Sync. Control Sync connects to the Dynamic Wah's EXP/CTL jack. The Dynamic Wah is also switched in and out using the Molten Voltage NODE MIDI Switcher.

Sonic Research Turbo Tuner is the best pedalboard tuner we've found because of its rotating LEDs that are easy to read and understand. Turbo Tuner has a true bypass switch and is only engaged during tuning (which also mutes the output), so it doesn't need a MIDI switcher.

Molten Voltage Master Control MV-58B with Side Controllers sends out standard MIDI Program Changes to turn on and off effects and recall presets. Master Control also stores the tempo for 128 programs and sends MIDI Clock to sync up the Roland Groove Effects, Eventide PitchFactor, EHX 8-Step Program, Strymon TimeLine, Molten Voltage G-Quencer (DigiTech Whammy 5), Molten Voltage MIDI Delaytion (MXR Carbon Copy), and Molten Voltage CTL-Sync (BOSS Phase Shifter and BOSS Dynamic Wah).

Molten Voltage OZ transforms the Strymon TimeLine Delay into a full-featured, high-fidelity, state-of-the-art LOOPER. OZ unlocks the hidden MIDI-only LOOPER features including REVERSE, HALF-SPEED / DOUBLE-SPEED, UNDO, and REDO. OZ also allows soft-switch, single-touch record/playback, external LOOP LEVEL control, and automatic DRY LOOPER recording.

Molten Voltage G-Quencer transforms the DigiTech Whammy 5 into an irresistable Riff Dispenser. G-Quencer lets you hear notes that aren’t normally available on the Whammy, then sequence those notes into elegant harmonies and improbable riffs. GQ is synced to MIDI Clock from the Molten Voltage Master Control. The 128 GQ programs are recalled using standard MIDI Program Changes, mapped with the Molten Voltage Osmosis. G-Quencer also works by itself, without any external MIDI controller. The G-Quencer Side Controller lets you remotely access the two G-Quencer buttons.
